FAQs
What power supply do I need?
The ‘Original Sleeper’ draws 12 Amps (no appliances plugged into the sockets). This requires a supply of 3.6kVA. If the load increases to 20 Amps, due to addition appliances, then the supply required is 6kVA. All our units are fitted with a 240V 32A Ceeform 2P+E Blue Plug (except the Original Diner which is 240V 63A Ceeform 2P+E Blue Plug).
Will they run off a generator?
Yes all our Units can run off a generator.
Do we need planning permission?
Yes, cabins sited for more than 28 days may require planning, however they are a portable structure and we advise you to speak to your local planning office before placing your order. It is the hirer’s responsibility to organise any Planning Permission required.
What is the drainage connection?
See the ‘Technical Details’ for each unit for the waste water outlet specification. Most units have a 110mm pipe and can be connected into either the mains or our ‘waste tanks’. Click here to see our optional extras.
We supply tanks however you will have to get them emptied by a local contractor. We will help you find a reputable local contractor.
Can Bunkabin’s run off a bowser?
Yes, the best solution is to have a water bowser fitted with an on-demand pump. The water pressure that you get to the unit ultimately determines how powerful your shower is.
How many waste tanks do we need?
3 sleeper units can be connected to a 900 Gallon Tank. On average usage this would need to be emptied weekly.
Do we need steps?
When you have 3 Units fed into 1 waste tank, the other units need to raised off the ground to provide the adequate fall into the tank. We can supply steps to gain access to the raised units.
Can they double stack?
Physically they can be double stacked however Building Regulations require a 6m gap between the double stacked units and adjacent buildings. This means no space is saved by double stacking. Many other issues restrict double stacking but this is the main one.
Are they available as a 1 man or 3 man unit?
Our Original Sleeper is available as a 1, 2 or 3 man unit. The Deluxe Sleeper is available as a 1 or 2 man unit.
Are they available in larger units?
The largest unit we do is a 1 man Deluxe Sleeper. The 2.8m x 4.2m 1 man Deluxe sleeper includes en-suite bathroom (shower, toilet, sink), full size single bed, microwave, fridge desk and a chest of drawers. It is the same as a 2 man Deluxe we simply remove a bed and replace it with a desk and a chest of drawers.
Can the delivery vehicle run on grass?
Under no circumstances whatsoever should a wagon drive over grass, Murphy’s Law says that if the ground is hard during delivery it will be a muddy bog when the unit needs to be collected. Any wasted journeys will be charged at full rate.
Do you deliver anywhere in the UK?
Yes we deliver Nationwide. Please call for a delivery cost.
Are they available for sale?
We are solely a hire company. We manufacture all our units at our purpose built factory. When the units come to the end of their life we recycle them.
How much notice for delivery?
This depends on the time of year. During the festival season we are very busy however we can always deliver with a weeks notice. However we will always try and do better than a week. Please note this is subject to availability of stock, in the festival season we regularly run out of units.
How often do the tanks need emptying?
This is always a difficult question. It depends how often the unit is used, however if you have 3 units into 1 tank it will need to be emptied once a week. We don’t empty the tanks however we can put you onto a number of nationwide reputable companies.
Is insurance included in the hire rate?
No. As part of our standard terms and conditions it is the Hirer’s Responsibility to arrange Insurance at 200x the weekly hire rate.
What is the minimum hire period?
You can have the unit for 1 day if you wish, however we will charge for 4 weeks. This charge covers the cost of cleaning and testing the unit ready for hire.
Will I get charged for cleaning?
Our fundamental principle is to "treat customers how we would want to be treated". The hire industry is quickly gaining a reputation for dishing out petty end-of-hire cleaning\damage charges. Often these charges are routinely generated to make up for unsustainably low hire rates. We are different, we don't expect the unit to come back spotless and understand there will be some wear and tear. We will charge for damage but I'm sure you'll agree that is only fair.
Are mattresses included?
Mattresses are included. We also sell bedding kits which includes duvet, duvet cover, bath towel, sheet, pillow and pillow case. Click here to see our optional extras.
