HOW DO PORTABLE TOILETS WORK?
A common question we receive is: how do portable toilets work?
We've all seen them, most of us will have used them at some point. What you may not know is that most portable toilets require no mains drainage or water supply. Bunkabin's portable toilet blocks are moveable self-contained units, meaning waste is directed into a holding tank beneath the toilet seat rather than being flushed into the sewage system. If you want to know how portable toilets work, read on.
At Bunkabin, our range is a step above the single blue chemical portable toilets you see at festivals and building sites. Our toilet blocks are ideal for providing convenient toilet facilities for large volumes of people, and come with cubicles, wash basins with mirrors, hot water and hand dryers. Read on to discover how they work.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER YOU FLUSH?
In single units, once the user presses the lever on the pump flush, the flushing system activates and waste water is drawn into the holding tank. Water from a concealed tank circulates in the toilet bowl, giving it a clean before the waste vanishes from view. A water and chemical mixture circulates in the holding tank, killing germs and odours. This process also reduces the accumulation of toilet paper.
Our portable toilet blocks can be plumbed into a large external waste tank if preferred, offering greater capacity and reducing the frequency of emptying. The units feature soft close seats and dual flush buttons for improved hygiene and ease of use. These features reduce odours and make the toilet blocks feel more akin to a domestic toilet facility.
THE ADVANTAGE OF PORTABLE TOILETS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND EVENT INDUSTRY
The main advantage of portable toilet blocks is their mobility, and the fact they can be connected to a waste tank, meaning there’s no need for pipework. Being self-contained units, they can be positioned almost anywhere with adequate space - ideal for building sites or events with large crowds.
Since there is no plumbing involved, there's no risk of clogs typical of traditional toilets. However, when using portable toilet cabins for your event or site, you should make sure you have enough units to cover the amount of people who will be using them, and you should also have a plan to service them regularly.
